The European Daylily of the Year Award is given to the European bred daylily which was evaluated best of its vintage in the relevant year in the three trial gardens spread over Europe. The final evaluation happens in the second evaluation year and this is also the year of award. In order to receive this award, the daylily has to be registered as named cultivar, if not already done, after publication of the evaluation results (as long as it is not registered, the award is officially not given). The daylily evaluation in the trial gardens is a collaboration with the "Fachgruppe Hemerocallis" of the German Gesellschaft der Staudenfreunde e.V. (GdS) (perennial society). The "Fachgruppe Hemerocallis" maintains also a website with the detailed evaluation results of the individual years incl. of the other evaluated daylilies. |
