Duncan Skene's proposed National Plant Collection of Spiders 7 Little Keyford Lane In the 4 years since Diana Grenfell told Duncan
Skene that the daylily he had most admired at Apple Court was a 'spider',
he has started to put together a reference collection of these entrancing
plants. With increasing emphasis on dormants, the collection now includes
Spiders, Spider Variants and Unusual Forms, grown mainly in dedicated hemerocallis
beds though also dotted around the herbaceous borders. Dickerson and Reinke
introductions are particularly well-represented, though the work of Bechtold,
Burkey, Crochet, Lambert, Trimmer, Webster and others is much in evidence,
in a collection that includes both vintage and recent plants. |
